Schnelker Park keeps the hill Burgess’s family already knew
The Green house stood above it. The paths are how the east side goes outside without getting on a highway.
Schnelker Park sits under the hill where E. W. Green built his Greek Revival, which is a long way of saying the park was a view before it was a park.
It is still the walk that does not require the Lincoln Highway. Take it before the sunset listed in the almanac. After that, the hill is only a darker shape above the old school ground, and you will wish you had gone sooner.
